The anniversary issue of Notts SOS newsletter, no. 7, November 2011 is out. Our latest newsletter includes an overview of the year’s campaigning plus forthcoming action. We welcome new and updated information about local campaigns and about cuts to services.

Notts SOS Newsletter no.6 – June 2011 – Save Our NHS, Hayward House success, Forests campaign, Notts Uncut, ATOS, Office Angels


The latest Notts SOS newsletter (no.6) for June 2011 covers the recent ‘Save Our NHS’ protests at the government ‘listening events’ in Nottingham and Notts, the outstanding success of the campaign to save the Hayward House Daycare unit on the City Hospital site, and update on the Sherwood Forest campaign, sustained protest in the city about corporate tax avoidance by Notts Uncut, plus action against ATOS healthcare over their medical tests and Office Angels over their treatment of temp worker. We also look ahead to our local NHS day of action on 9th July and the widespread coordinated strike action by UCU/NUT/ATL/PCS unions and maybe others on June 30th.

Notts SOS Newsletter no.5 – May 2011 – Save our NHS, Hayward House Daycare, TUC demo


The latest Notts SOS newsletter for Mayday and beyond (no.5) covers the recent ‘Save our NHS: Kill the Bill’ meeting, a new campaign to stop closure of Hayward House Daycare on the City Hospital site, and a report from the 26th March TUC demo, looking ahead to what will hopefully be coordinated strike action on June 30th.

Notts SOS newsletter no. 4 including NHS, academies & forestry local campaigns [plus video ‘Andrew Lansley Rap’]


We are pleased to bring you the Notts Save Our Services newsletter no.4 for March/April 2011 including several articles on local action taken against the cuts plus advertising of forthcoming events [Notts SOS No. 4 Word version] or [Notts SOS No. 4 PDF version]. In addition this week’s events include UCU strikes and rally, an ESOL day of action and a Budget Day protest. Also read this report from Bassetlaw SOS after their latest public meeting. And what is likely to be the biggest protest in London against government since the anti-war march, is talking place on Saturday 26th. See diary for details. The next Notts SOS meeting is Monday 28th March at the usual venue.

Notts SOS Newsletter No.1 plus meetings, stalls & events in the week starting 8th November 2010 [with video of stall]


You may have picked up a copy of our first newsletter at the Market Square stall in Nottingham City Centre on Saturday. If not, you can download it here. Send us your contributions and we’ll aim to put them in the next one. alternatively email us copies of your own anti-cuts newsletters and leaflets. As well as articles and opinion, the Newsletter
contains details of the march and demonstration in Nottingham on 20th November, mentioned elsewhere on our site. We really want to make it a big one and hope you’ll join it. See leaflet advertising demo.

Dates for week starting 8th November 2010

Monday 8th November. Regular Notts SOS planning meeting. The International Community Centre, YMCA, 61b Mansfield Road, Nottingham, NG1 3FN. 7.30pm until 9.30pm. All welcome.

Tuesday 9th November. Anarchists against the Cuts, The Sumac Centre, 245 Gladstone Street, Forest Fields, Nottingham, NG7 6HX. 7.30pm. This is the second meeting. Details.

Wednesday 10th November. UCU and NUS demonstration in London. Nottingham coach details are here as mentioned previously on Nott SOS website. Some coaches are going from Castle College and we will have leaflets to give out to those going on the demo, about Notts SOS campaign and the forthcoming Nottingham demo on the 20th. Please phone Stewart on 07599 735853 if you’d like to join him to do the leafleting.

Thursday 11th November. Sumac Debates: Is Capitalism the Crisis?
The Sumac Centre, 245 Gladstone Street, Forest Fields, Nottingham, NG7 6HX. 7.30pm. This is one of a new series of open debates at the Sumac Centre.

Saturday 13th November. Notts SOS street stalls. There will be at least the following. Come and talk to us! Even better come along and help us give out leaflets.

  • Nottingham Market Square (near the Lions): 12 noon – 2pm.
  • Beeston: 11 am on the High Road outside Boots the Chemist.
